Well, I am happy to hear that your life is good. I was genuinely concerned when you wrote:

I mean, can you blame me for the worry? You said you WASTED 11 years to do the thing you did for your whole life! YIKES, man! I suppose I would be thrilled to retire from something I hated, too. I gotta tell you. Your persistence is impressive. I would have had to back out at some point. I'd have sold my POS X5 if I had one and I'd have quite my POS career if I could describe it in such disparaging ways. Impressive.

I don't see where your other cars have anything to do with your negative outlook on the E53 X5, but good on you for.. for what? Having them? I dunno. In the context of the forum, I could care less about your opinions on things non BMW and non-X5. It is why we're here.

Outside of the context here, I'm happy you're happy. I'd be even happier if you could make the effort to spread some of that happiness around to the new members here. With history as our guide, we'll see them post soon enough looking for some help. Maybe then is a fine time to offer an opinion. You know. When it's asked for.

After all, that's what's got everyone who's so bent out of shape so bent out of shape isn't it? Our opinions differ to such an extreme degree that we must simply agree to disagree. That is pretty much what makes the world go around.

And yeah. I'll wear the BMW fanboy badge with honor. I still own my first car, a 1975 2002. One of 2 2002's I own. After a brief infatuation with reliable Mazdas in the 90's (you know, when I couldn't afford to keep my 75 on the road all the time), I came back to the marque.

My BMW CCA membership hasn't lapsed since the 80's. It's 5 digits. I've driven and maintained these cars my whole life. Just bc I am a fan doesn't mean I don't know going in what's necessary. And just bc that may be a bit more than I needed to put into my Mazdas is no reason I can't allow a fellow driver- especially a NEW fellow driver- the chance to feel why BMW has been my consistent choice for 30 years.

So your saying n62 is not well documented being infamous?
If you can prove that, then you win this argument.

My M54 is infamous for the CCV, cooling system, case to case basis DISA, fab clutch, secondary MAF.... I believe I have posted all the things I experienced maint and pm + things on my watch list ..

My e46 is infamous of many this, this model even have wiki in bimmerfest
I wish we have one for X ENGINE

No history yet for my n51, I'm pretty sure the normal 70k miles oil leaks and sensors , I'm only at 23k

I think I hit a sensitive nerve on the n62 owners but that's the power of the internet.. It's well documented

Of course, what was I thinking, shame on me--I should have known that meant to enjoy your new ride, be cautious as some have had problems but that doesn't happen to everyone.

The suggestion to quit the forum and job was more of a suggestion to let go of the past and not put oneself in a position that makes the old wound raw again. I think Upallnight is here for other very viable reasons and would be missed but if those were to be the only reasons it is good advice.

I hesitate to challenge what I see as inappropriate welcomes. In some ways it puts the new member in the middle and regardless of what anyone says their moment of joy and pride may be damaged more with each post That said, I think it far worse to let them go unchallenged.

When did I describe the BM Trouble U in a disparaging way?? If you look at any of my postings not once have I refer to my BM Trouble U as POS. Seems like you are reading more into my posts than what was actually posted. But I expect that from a Fanboy.

I just mention to the original poster if he will still be singing the praise after he had own the car for two or more years.

My ownership of other car means I am not prejudice to the BMW Marque. So why is your ownership of Mazdas any concern to me or this forum.

I seen you type on the Lotus and PORSCHE forums and put up with their fanboy attitudes just like I put up with your.

You are mistaken. Just bc someone has the same username on a forum doesn't make them the same person at the kybd. I have never (not once) posted on either a Porsche or a Lotus board.

Perhaps that explains your attitude here. You expect something from me that I have absolutely no part in delivering.

It's a little strange to me that YOUR ownership of other makes is supposed to be meaningful to me and the members here, but then you suggest that my ownership of other makes isn't supposed to meaningful to the same group. That doesn't seem fair.

Well, see now I'm just REALLY confused. Someone ELSE wrote that post. But you said:

So which is it? Is the problem with V8 owners who think the i6 puny? Well, take that problem to someone else. I don't help people who want to piss for distance off the bar. Not my game.

If anything, as an owner of a 3.0 for 7 years, I championed the i6. I still miss it when my next door neighbor who bought it drives it down the street. All of that time spent polishing the paint, treating it right, and getting the maintenance done when it should still shows. I've even written about how the i6 has some things better in my experience than the (allmighty) 4.8is here.

See? It is possible to understand and appreciate more than one perspective. In fact, you can even hold more than one perspective as your very own. Thinking (and going so far as to suggest) that every N62 will have troubles that an owner doesn't expect or that will be too expensive (really? you know what 'expensive' is to everyone else?) is just myopic. And, as I have suggested all along, doesn't help anyone. No. It does not.

It's ok to disagree.... You have points and I have mine....

You have the advantage of owning more Bimmers than me... Bottom line we are both blessed.. Not everyone can say that.

Im still undecided what's the replacement for my m54.. I will wait until i can't afford the repairs anymore... Not liking the F series body for now maybe the future ones .....

My dad owns a couple but he sold his 7 series with n62, all sorts of things / gremlins appeared, it's beyond our skills or means to take down the engine and do the repairs... This has become a money pit...no Brainer but to part ways... And I did say case to case basis...

we both hit a nerve and will continue to disagree... But that's ok
It's either we move on or continue this thread ( endless loop)

Maybe we have a common point on detailing but I have to wait until the weather is settled here in chitown

It was just advice. I can't expect some stranger on a forum to do what some other stranger tells him. Can I? Can you?

Or wait.

Send me $1M right NOW.

Waiting.

I'll make you a deal:

You promise to engage in the open, welcoming, positive force for new members by making the consistent choice not to p!ss all over someone's choice of engine. Ever. But *especially* not in someone's intro thread...

In return, I won't offer my advice that anyone might improve his, her, or our collective life by stepping away from something that brings such a negative locus to so many others. For the sake of clarity, in case we have any Personal Polly's here: not just ONE someone- ANY someone.

Do we have a deal?
