how to bench test a bordmonitor?
On the car doesn't seem to work and going by the connectors pinout I should be able to power it on by applying ground on pin 2 and +12V on pin 7 and 11 on the blue connector. Although by in the pinout pin 11 is the switched 12V when I measured it on the car harness this pin 11 is not populated. That makes me think that I need an iBus message to get the bordmonotor powered up. Any thoughts?

i too was wondering this. I was trying to test my navi setup/upgrade before wiring it up..MY warmer days project..
i have dsp harness, mk4, bordmonitor, gps puck, nav radio (cd novelty type), tv module, tv harness, dsp amp. I get the bmw logo for 2 secs then a black screen. i can eject the cd but i have no clue if the tv is turning on. I will say this.. i had to run the power to the multiple harness.. So after tracing where power comes in to the multiple harnesses. I came to the conclusion i need an I bus signal so bench testing might not be possible.. since nothing else will power on. Or one of my pieces is not coded to an X5.
