All in all my install went fine. I am using a dedicated "garage" laptop which doesn't crossover with anything I care about. If it gets "owned" it's not that big of a deal. I don't have any sensitive info on it - nor do I use it to access anything sensitive.

I ended up doing the manual install process for parts as I recall something not going quite right. All in all it's great. I am very pleased. It's a bit slow but works as described!!!!

Cool, thanks. Good to hear. A garage computer is not a bad idea. I am only have one so I am rolling the dice. Hopefully mcafee picks up anything weird.

Where is the install hanging-up? I recall having some issues with the automated "one click" install once it got through The first DVD and had to go onto the second. I did the rest manually.

That's exactly what the problem is. I think it might be working now. I left it alone for like 15 min and it loaded the zip file. It's currently unzipping so I might be getting closer.

Ahhh yes, Unicorn juice. Priced accordingly iirc.

This 'Romanian' (or Romulan?) software. Please say more w/perhaps a linky to the cable/software you procured. I assume it prefers XP since it is 'vintage'?

Regarding the unicorn juice. I think I paid $53 shipped for the liter of fluid. I found it on amazon for the best price.

Pricing was all over the place in upwards of $100 by some sellers - so look around!

Yes - I am currently running XP however a couple of the modules (DIS and Progman) run under VMware - so they should be portable to other platforms.

The only thing that could be a problem under windows 7 is likely the driver for the cable itself.

I found it on ECS for 43 and bav matched.

Did you have any trouble connecting when you hit run? I have windows 7 and can't seem to connect. I also don't know how to determine which is USB port 1 so I am trying all of them.

Interesting, aside from also wanting to do a transfer case fluid change, I am in the market for diagnostic and service software too. Would you guys recommend that package?

I also want to learn to do coding, just for simple stuff like activating or deactivating certain options, nothing major. Will this work and/or what else will I need?

Sorry if it's a bit off-topic, saw you guys using this less expensive software option so I figured I'd ask here.
