I'd have to enquire if it's possible.
Raj how's the ride quality compared to the air suspension? Is it improved, diminished or the same? Any increased handling or braking characteristics? Thanks in advance, awesome looking x5 with Alpina rims as well.

The ride is very much improved. You lose all the sofa like qualities of the air suspension. The KWs provide a firmer but not crashy ride and offers a more sure footed feel. You can carry more speed through the bends etc. Under braking the nose doesn't dip as much as previously too.

Overall very pleased with not having air suspension.

did you have to disconnect any air lines or deactivate the air compressors when you did this install?

this is my plan if/when my air suspension gives me any problems.

I removed the air compressor, small air canisters, accumulator and valve block. Plus the fuses in the rear quarter panel for the compressor etc. I left just the actual air lines running throughout as that was a little more hassle to remove them.

You can however, just remove the fuses in the rear and leave everything in the X as you just want the compressor kicking in trying to feed air to the bags that have been removed.

Also by selling my air pump and other components I actually made quite a bit of money back towards the cost of the KW's etc. eBay'd everything and got something like $1400 back.

Only thing that remains is the control module itself as it is required for the other systems (4x4, DSC, etc).

That doesn't sound too bad at all. Thanks for the information.

Let us know if you figure out how to code the x5 after removing the air suspension to get rid of the error lights
