My other mileage champions were a 1990 Mazda MPV 3.0 at 276,000 miles and a 1981 Pontiac Bonneville Diesel (yup the 5.7 liter) at 264,000 miles! Stay with one brand of oil, change it on the low side of when you should, and keep an eye on hoses and they last a long time as long as you don't have wintertime road salt to contend with.

2002 X5 3.0 252,000 miles
2004 325i 112,800 miles

I know what you mean. Lived in PA and Ohio and attended college at General Motors Institute in Flint, MI during the late seventies. Five, maybe six years on a car before it had skin cancer. Exhaust systems always fell off the cars during the winter too!
