anyone use this trailer harness?

Plug-N-Tow (R) Short Proof Powered Taillight Converter - Heavy Duty Hopkins Wiring 46365

right now I've just got a spare generic 4-plug harness hooked into my brake light circuit so nobody slams into my boat because they didnt see me slowing down.

obviously the turn signals arent hooked up as when I do hook them up, without a module, they just sorta blink.

was using this video for getting the wiring info:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3fLMwNfE4U

I'm just drooping it out over the back of the tailgate as in the video too.

I would like to get a harness thats fully functional though. dont really need to pay $200 for an oem plug/play harness.

I do have a hitch on my truck that was on it when I bought it but couldnt find a harness anywhere. kinda weird that you could get a hitch installed but not get a harness along side it.

reading through a search I did and see that people have used the hitch I posted above.

I dont have auto leveling so that shouldnt be an issue for me. no clue what psd is...will look that up.

found the oem hitch harness at ecs as I saw posted. $154 hmm

the lights in the BMWs are using balanced lines fed through MOSFETs inside the LCM - so, when you introduce additional load of the trailer lights, you might get the fast blinking on the turn signals and messages in the cluster.

To minimize the additional load on the circuit, maybe an LED would be beneficial...

The trailer module is an extention of the LCM, it has its own MOSFETs to feed the lights...

does your trailer have LED tail, brake and turn lights?

yeah, brand new 2014 load master trailer with all led lighting.

I'm wondering if I just didnt tap the wrong line. The brakes work just fine.

when I hooked up the left signal wire per the video, I turned on the key and the trailer lights just blinked. then I hit the brakes and they went off and then wouldnt come back on until I turned the key off and back on.

thats when I started thinking I needed the setup like in the video which led my online search to setup I posted wondering if anyone has used.

the etrailer video does show them installing a very similar setup (and the one I found is from them but $10 cheaper).

All I'm using right now is just a 4-pin harness without a module though. had one laying around from an old trailer light kit from a long gone trailer I had.

you know I wonder if it was blinking because I still had the tail light harness disconnected while trying the turn signals lol.

The module shown in the video provides power to the trailer lights directly from the battery. The wires that are spliced into the factory cable are just to provide signals to the module to either turn on the running lights or turn on the brake light ot blink the light to indicate a turn signal.

You can not tap into the BMW wiring harness directly to the trailer harness and expect the lights to work. The LKM prevents this.

so just get the harness I posted originally and follow the wiring in the video?
Plug-N-Tow (R) Short Proof Powered Taillight Converter - Heavy Duty Hopkins Wiring 46365

wonder why my brake lights work if the lkm is supposed to prevent it?

Brake light may work, but are your turn signals working and will the brake light work if you have the turn signal on? If not then the system that you have install right now is not working.

There's a separate light bulb for the turn signals and a separate light bulb for the brakes. On most trailers, only one bulb with two filaments is used for running, turn signal and brake.

I understand all that and intend to stop using what I have now.

I'm asking if the one I link to will work as it pulls power from battery and signal from harness?
