You can usually find new maps on eBay...and you can even spring for them at your local BMW dealership's parts dept. Make sure you get the correct DVDs/CDs (not the ones for the new iDrive models). Not sure which Nav CPU you have...but if you have the MK4 (DVD) system...I believe TomTom makes the maps for North America now.
Back in 2012 when I got my X5...I found the 2012 maps seen below on eBay...No Amer comes in 2 DVD discs now since I guess there's more POI (point of interest) data: ![]() The download for OS upgrade used to be right here on Xoupost...hold on and let me go search through the ARTICLES link (at the top of the page). Found it...the thread was created 1/9/2006: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all...ystem-faq.htmlYou'll need to go through the entire page...to find the nuggest of info you seek...but I believe the link to download the software upgrade is near the bottom in the section under "to upgrade your nav software follow these steps". Good luck

just an fyi...just did a google search using "BMW high DVD Nav disks" and found prices from approx $9 for single east or west discs...up to $200+ for a set of 2 east/west DVDs. Not sure whyy people say they have difficulty finding new discs...at least DVDs for the MK4 set up running V31/V32 OS.
The sellers seemed to repeatedly ask buyers to check the model & model year as not to buy the incorrect sets. The e53 generation DVDs are the "professional" & "high" DVDs. The e70 and newer gen BMWs that have iDrive use a different DVD that is usually identified as "CCC" or something else.
