need help cylinder 5 misfiring also light smoke coming from exhaust
yesterday while starting up the Xs i notice white smoke coming out of the passenger side exhaust along with the misfire , i let it run for awhile then the smoke stop it wasn't heavy smoke it was light.the misfire stop after awhile as well .i turn the X off for 5 minutes and restart it light smoke came out again this time it smell a little sweet.so i did a little research and the problem could be a antifreeze leak. HEAD GASKET!!! is this correct? i checked my oil stick and cap they are fine looks normal not milky. my coolant level is low i haven't started the X in a week don't want anymore problems. can anyone give me some good feed back on this , tell me what steps should i take. thanks

You can get a testing kit to test for combustion gas in the radiator. If the test come back positive, you have a head gasket problem.

i just went thru that problem crack in intake valve port on head when you start the vehicle it is going to skip for a few seconds up to a minute what i did was when it was running and missing i would disconnect one coil at a time you would know which one it is because you won't notice any change when you disconnected like if the coil was bad but it ain't. as soon as it burns the antifreeze the truck would run fine until it sits then re start it. you will also get the code misfire and it will tell you which cylinder. hope this helps
by the way unless you have the appropriate tools don't bother doing it your self double vanos if it is the 3.0i is a job in its self.doing the job my self between special tools use head and head gasket set and misc stuff you find questionable i spend $1200.and the head came with out cams that was another project to switch over with out braking them with out the very expensive tool.good luck Quote:
