It looks like the lock cylinder is out of the barrel.

Yep, and it doesn't stay if it put it back in... the rod that's supposed to be o the end is nowhere in sight, either.

It's probably at the bottom of the door.

[QUOTE=ProfessorX5;1002130]I know, the x is way more fun, just frustrated with stuff breaking that never breaks on my other cars :P

My X5 at 258,700 miles is consuming less oil than my 1970 Firebird did at 160,000 miles. And although the lock cylinders never failed on it, you could probably pick them with a toothbrush.

2002 X5 3.0 258,700 miles
2004 325i 114,000 miles

That actually happened to me on my old car. I am assuming you don't have a remote key which is why you are using this... In my case, I just installed a remote door actuator and put a blank handle and called it a day. I wonder if you can buy a brand new cylinder and have it keyed to your existing key, that way you don't have to carry two keys... good luck

Hmm might do that neb... but willing to put up with two keys for now... got a new oil leak, too... too tired to investigate though. Will have mech check it when they finally do the bodywork.

Here's a video on repairing the lock. You need to buy a repair kit.
