Nooot 'exactly'... While your point is taken in the math, many model years run from October like my 2004- 6 weeks from now. That's close enough to call an '06 from 10/05 9 years old. And my crusty ole '04 from 09/04 turns the big decade this year. (or wait.. was it 05/04? Now I need to check.)

Different story on my end, Wifey wants a benz but since I am paying I got her a bimmer since I have invested on bmw specific tools and software. The cherry on top for this deal, it goes with the Tiffany & Co necklace (both parties are happy)

For the OP, it seems you are on top of discovery the root cause of your issues (based in your recent post). GL

And it has nothing to do with an E53.

Decided to pass on this one.
I've done the oil filter adapter and rear subframe bushings myself, also valve cover gaskets, plugs, trans fluid, O2 sensors, intake elbow, brakes...all on my 02 3.0i which I've had from 84K to 131K miles.

The real thing that turned me off on this one was a floormat that was obviously cleaned but smelled, well, bad, like organic bad. I'm picky about condition.

I paid $12,800 for my 02 in 2010, so 8 yrs old with 84K miles. This didn't seem like quite such a bargain, and they were not willing to move more than about $400 in price.

The search continues...
