Sounds like mixed info on the On Board Computer OBC function being retained then? My post of #147 here is getting at the ability to adjust what features come up with push button on the turn signal stock.

Can one of your guys test what happens now when you press the BC button in on your turn signal stock?

Also agreed on question of how to set clock for car computer, does setting the clock on N6 interact with CANbuss ?

Here is the info I have read on OBC with N6, I am really curious for anyone here who has done N6 to replace factory NAV who can test/speak to OBC details after.

..........
'From what I understand with respect to OBC, is you need to set the items you want displayed on the gauge cluster BEFORE removing the stock radio. Then when you hit the BC button on the signal stick, you can scroll through what you made visible at the time of removal. That's about all you get OBC wise. We'll see how this install goes and if that is the case.'

You can re-set fuel consumption, etc from the stalk. Everything that worked from the stalk works. You cannot unlock the OBC through the 2 buttons from the dash anymore, unless you hook up the HU in the glovebox.
Not sure about the clock, the Dynavin has it's own time, so I'm using that one. Never used the dash time anyways.

Doru,
Maybe I am unfamiliar with the 04-06 X5 and that's what driving my questions; however , when I depress my stalk to reset fuel consumption I get "prog" and I can't seem to reset it.

Thanks

Right. You cannot reset it as he does. Although both are high clusters Doru's ECU firmware is different and the cluster can be rest through the stalk. I believe only 4.4 has that option however the cluster only shows: Average speed, MPG, range to empty or something like that.
He does not get the prog as you do that enables the options to select to display on the cluster.

Check this answer (Bimmerforums #303) concerning the N6 unit - if you have O.E. Nav:
"I just installed an N6 in my 01 M5, which has(had?) a MKIII Nav unit that looks just like yours (although mine never shows 22.4 MPG! lol ).

Before installing the N6, I had gone into the Remote Control config menu and de-selected any menu item I wouldn't use anymore. I had the OBD display down to the basics - fuel consumption, average speed, current time, etc. However, when I disconnected the MKIII drive in the trunk (or when the battery died - I'm not sure which), the OBD display defaulted to all fields present. So, I can still cycle through the displays on the OBD (using the BC button) just like I did before.

Unfortunately, I've not found a way to reset any of the parameters with the N6 installed. So, for now my MPG will be a running average. I assume it's is a fairly simple iBus command to reset it, so hopefully that functionality will appear in the future. Disconnecting the battery will reset the MPG, but it also resets some of the N6 menus to default so I'm not sure that's a viable option, really.

I've also not found a voice recognition feature. Holding down the phone button on the steering wheel doesn't activate anything besides redialing the last number you called. As Jeff mentioned, the new iOS 8 "Hey Siri" functionality does work, but only when the phone is plugged in.

Best of luck! "

Trying to install the N6 into my 06 4.8is with Nav. There is absolutely no installation instruction, just a generic diagram on the radio. I don't see how I can connect my radio tuner by my battery to this Ficka cable. The adapters I received does not seems to be comparable

The e53 adapter has round pins. Am I missing something here

.

When doing the N6 in a car with prior Nav do you have to run the new cable from the back of the N6 to the back of the X (going to the AMP input)? I see something on their site about a 6M long cord
Dynavin

Hope you find some instructions and I am curious on what you find too.

^^

You need optional cable that runs from head unit to trunk.

Motorsport, I had the same issue. The fakra cable harness adapter was labeled wrong! Try the other adapter. The one that does not have E53 on it.
