Akebonos are good pads but the initial bite is alot less then semi metallic pads, had them on my audi.. Good super low dust pads though.
Best option if you want to keep better initial bite- itll be slightly less but its much smoother too - get axxiss deluxe pads, they are low dust and a good street pad, i have them on my front right now and will be replacing rears with them soon, cant stand pads that dust alot. Rotors- zimmerman is a good brand ive ran them before on my audi as well- no issues and i got a killer deal on them that time too. Ive retained my stock rotors for now since they were in great shape and not warped or anything and put the axxiss pads on and rebedded them.

You need to pay attention to which pad compound you are buying, not just which brand.
I wouldn't use ATE. Other three are fine. I preferred Axxis Deluxe or the PBR equivalent, it is the same pad with a different label. I have used aftermarket rotors but went back to OE and was happier with them.

I've used Axxis Deluxe for 10 years, low dust, great rotor wear, long lasting.

That seemed like a long time, but when I think back I put the Axxis Deluxe on my X5 in 2004, so that was ten years ago as well. Another four years on the 535. And they were very similar to the PBR-Repco pads we installed dating back to the eighties.

Which one is better?...
Front Axxis/PBR Deluxe Advanced Ceramic Brake Pad Set 2002-2006 BMW X5, xDrive 3.0i, 4.4i Part number: 45-0681ED/6 Or Front - Axxis/PBR ULT (Ultimate) Ceramic High Performance Brake Pad Set 2002-2006 BMW X5, xDrive 3.0i, 4.4i Part number: 45-0681EU/6 |

The Deluxe Advanced, not the Ultimate.
Better pad life, better rotor life, quieter, less dust. The Ultimates are rated better on fade, so would be more suitable for track days, if that is what you are doing with your X5. I never had any fade with the Deluxe compound.

Ultimates will have even less bite then the advanced im thinking on street use.
Get the advanced i have those on the X. Am actually doing all 4 corner brakes on my dads a6 we picked up.. all brakes came in today - axxis deluxe advanced as well. Just an idea - shop around, copy the part number from a reliable website which will show you the correct pads, throw it in google and search up.
