transmission software

I am getting an new '06 X-5 to replace my lemon '04. One of the numerous issues with the '04 was the transmission software and "thud" you get when it tries to get into 1st gear on a rolling stop. It has been reprogrammed 4 times and it still does not work properly. Does anybody know if this problem was fixed in the '06 model?

Sterling - I don't know about the '06, but I have had the same experience on my '05 4.4. Most of the time it is very slight. A couple of times it was so bad I thought someone rear ended me. Anyone know what the software fix is supposed to be. I'm going in for my first service within the next few weeks. Other than this and a window regulator, I've had 13,000 problem free miles. I love my X! Power is great, an improvement over my 01' 4.4. I figured it was time I said hi all, I've only been a member for months! Thanks in advance

Bring it to the stealer and tell him them to have it fixed (specify the problem). I got a 04 4.4 and it does the same but after having it serviced and having the tranny software updated, it made a helluva difference. Everything's running smooth and great now.

Thanks Jaba

I thought there was a specific software upgrade I should ask for. Don't want to hear that 'vehicle operating at manufacturers specs, no issue found' BS.

posted the code or whatever note was written in my invoice. I posted it sometime ago. Do a search for that thread. I don't know how much it's gonna help but i'm sure it's worth at least a try. Good luck though.

I've experienced this before and i have a 03 3.0 and i took it in for them to fix it, also mine sometimes in the morning struggles or hesitates to get into first gear ? and when driving it is jerky especially when down shifting from 5 to 4 and upshipit from 4 to 5 it like lags to shift and its sometimes i hear the thud when it shifts

so well see this monday if its been fixed or not.

Wink should everybody done that

should'not everybody done that update then?
Should stealer automatically inform you and install at the moment of the next servise ?
There is a saing ..: -" If it is not distorbing you -Do not fix it ?!?"

i think they actually do the software update without telling you when ever you happen to be there for a service. Because i had that problem then i went in for something else and forgot to tell them about the trans problem and when i got it back it was better and i didnt tell them about the problem,
