Hope you're right but after what I've read here on the forum I know suspension, tranny, timing chain guide issues (may) await.

JB -

I'll share mine. I had my X since 3 miles on the odometer. I'm pretty religious about fluids - it's easy and cheap for me. Trans, I must have done at least 2 bolt drains, then a pan drop, then another bolt drain - all by 100K. At around 100K, I did another pan drop change. Shortly 2-3K after that, it sh1t the bed and I had it rebuilt.

YMMV.

Picture heavy for just a stocker E53 but I said I'd add photos so here they are...

That is one fine looking 4.6, love the interior; looks like you made a great deal, and looked far to get it. I would have been tempted to fly to Phoenix and drive it back, taking the opportunity to see the country a bit. The trade in for a Camry does seem strange, but then I've made some strange changes, myself. I was driving an F350 7.3L diesel 4x4 and a Mercedes SLK [both stick shifts] when I got my X5. Its half-way between those two [sorta ....]

The thought of flying into AZ and driving back probably would have been appealing had I not spent so much time on the road lately. I left Southern CA this summer in the M5 without a final destination. Just drove til I hit the coast in NC. Looked around the south. Was on my way back to Athens, GA but went through Upstate SC on the way there and liked it to much. All told I did 6000 miles.
