I ordered some. I needed new struts anyhow... I'm hoping that the ones I ordered have easily removable ends so I don't need to modify them.

Unfortunately, deliver time from Slovakia is pretty long, so they won't be here for a another couple weeks.

They look plastic coated so it doesn't seem that scratching the strut will be a problem. Regardless, I may Plastidip them black.

If the spring pressure is really high, then I'll probably cut off some of the coils and make a spacer to take up the slack. I'll report back when they're in.

I received mine yesterday and I already had aftermarket shocks so, it was easy for me to install them. They are working perfect for me, no issues so far.

ArmyX5 do you notice extra tension on your closing mechanism and what brand of aftermarket gas shocks did you buy to replace the factory gas shocks?

I received mine last week, didn't realize until after I got them that you have to have aftermarket struts to install them because the you can't remove the ball from the OEM struts.

There is some tension when you try to close the hatch, but I don't believe it is enough to cause any issues. I got the shocks from ECS Tuning more than a year ago. Here is the brand: BMW E53 X5 M54 3.0L By Brand S-T Stabilus - ECS Tuning
