Which lowering links are you using? I don't have GT1 to play around with either.
ahhh the e34 days were the best days. I ended up not using the links and lowering it via computer at a friends shop because they links I had (ebay links) were incorrect for some odd reason.

Nice looking truck . I'm new to the X5 world ( not new to BMW's or the car scene) .. When looking for my wifes X5 , I wanted to pick up a 4.6 or 4.8 is but all of mny buddies and people in general said to stay away because of timing chain issues? True/False? I really didn't care since I work on my own E46 ,but that got my wife all worried and ended up with what i bought .. She also joked that I was buying the 4.8is for myself to mod ,and just say it was hers . (LOL) I love the 4.8is and now I'm second guessing my decision after joining this forum ( Im on bimmerfest and E46 fanatics)

Timing chain issues are not common on the N62 motor...it's better to do your research than listen to friends ..

Agreed. They have their own set of issues but not chains (4.6's did though).

I dunno know, you are right, I should have done more research . What I was told was that when these trucks were beat on and had around 100k miles that the timing chain tensioners or guides would go and cause a mess of other problems.. I did look a couple of fine examples and passed because of that "bad" info.. SMH.. Having owned an E36 M3, E46,and an E46 M3, I decided to stay with the m54 platform instead ... Good luck with your new ride ..

The m54 is way nicer than the n series motors. But the m62 platform is pretty nice, save the guides. But if you do your own work, it's not a hard job.
I have 3 m62's. One with 210k and new guides, another with 175 on originals, and another with 102 and original
