Driver side passenger door not unlatching
Luckily, the X5 is not a daily driver nowadays so this exercise was infrequent. I do still need to fix it and need some suggestions without going to the dealership. Any DIY help for me?

Door handle carrier. Just replaced mine, exact same thing. I'd give you a link and part number, but I'm on my phone and don't have the best site maneuverability. Do a search, should pop right up. Took me just over an hour to replace, not to complicated. Actually, there's a DIY link in the tips and tricks at the top of the page.

The internet is a plethora of information. Just Google BMW X5 door handle replacement and you will find your answer. There's even a couple of Youtube videos on this repair.
