Calling "Q" need Programming info Door Locks

Is there a way to program the doors to lock when put into drive?

I'm hoping Q may be able to find out how to.

Thanks 2002 4.4

The General Module needs to be coded to enable auto door lock feature. They will lock at a set speed which can be selected too.
However, I know of no way to auto-unlock.

Sure they can. I, as well as others who has NCS or P.A Soft program, can do it too

Ditto what the guys said above. To do auto lock...it requires software/hardware...there's no quick driveway trick (without software/hardware) to set this option.

If you don't have the software/hardware...or no one else that has it...you can always take it to your local BMW dealership...at the going labor rates...and have them program it.

Once you have the ability to communicate with the car's bus system...then you make the selections accordingly. If you already have remote keys that have specific programming, then you'll need to select key 1, 2, 3, or 4 for auto lock...then at what speed you want it to engage:

Yep, two settings - auto lock engage, then whichever speed to lock the doors. My dealer did that coding plus checked on another one for me for the grand total price of $65. Not worth me mucking around with windows-specific coding software (I'm a Mac convert) for that kind of coin.

Intravee - can auto lock for you and can even unlock the door after key release, or shift to P, or after turning off.

Hiya,
Would initializing new keys make my settings go crazy? I just bought two news keys due to one of my original key batteries dying. I figure the other one isn't far behind it. When I programmed them I set up the original and the two new ones. From your picture it seems I can program up to 4 keys correct? I have BMW Scanner and have set this up before but its been quite awhile. I assume I need to set them up so all the keys are storing memory into my car memory? Is there a page somewhere that shows what each of the settings means? I am wondering about the Selective Central Locking and the Convenient Opening/Unlocking feature. Also the mirror options. My pass mirror tilts down when I reverse and its annoying if I forget to slide the door selector to pass side. Many of those options sound intriguing. I believe all I programmed before was the auto locking at a certain speed. Thanks

No...you're getting confused by all the information you're reading. None of the things you were asking work the way you present it in your questions Your confusing BMW DIS car/key memory programming...with programming the remotes to simply lock/unlock & arm/disarm the vehicle.

The chart you posted is for programming specific operating options for each remote key you have under the titles given in the chart.

The pass mirror tilt in reverse is not what that list is referring to...to disable that feature...you already mentioned how..you move the mirror switch to the left or right side to enable/disable.

The mirror selections in the chart will keep the mirror settings selected by the specific driver that uses a secific key...if you don't have the folding convenience mirror options...then that feature doesn't apply. The same for the selective central locking...you select the boxes for the specific key as to how the user of that key wants the vehicle to "auto lock" (if at all)...and same for if you want the convenience open/lock to only be performed by manuually inserting the key in the driver's door lock...or if you can use the remote key buttons.

OK thanks. I will just experiment with the settings shown. All 3 keys will most likely only be used by me in random order to keep them charged. My girlfriend may occasionally use one of the keys. When the last original key battery dies I will then reprogram and have only 2 keys in use.
