Personally, I believe it is harder on a vehicle not being driven.
Something is not adding up here, unless the single owner have lambo's, bugatti's, ferrari's or tons of toys for the big boys- There is a possibility but low!

Smart buyer(s) will have to rely on their trusted BMW Master Mechanic/ Experienced German Car (Indy or Dealership) for a thorough inspection. And also accepting the fact that there are things to replace (maintenance/preventive maintenance)- age of the vehicle.

I have had a great experience with my '04 that I bought with only 11k. It was 7 years old. I replaced the cooling system and hoses out of caution, but everything else has been normal X5 ownership stuff.

Agreed - I'd be cautious of a car with really low mileage like that. There are only 2 likely scenarios:

1) The owner made lots of short trips and had a short commute. Cars like to be warmed up and run for a bit. Maybe the guy lives 2 miles from work and the car never gets fully warmed before he shuts it off. That's hard on an engine...

2) This was the owner's "fun" car, which sits a lot. Cars don't like to sit. And the owner ran the snot out of it having fun.

That said, if the car has been well maintained with regular fluid changes based on time rather than mileage and hasn't been "run hard and put away wet", then this could be a great find.

If you really, really like it, you can always get it wrapped in blue.

based on the vehicle history report it looks like it was sitting for the first 10 years so atleast it's been driven for the last couple years. I always ask the owner to give me a ride in the car to see how their driving habit is and I ask questions like how far they work just to get an idea on how much the car was driven. maybe the car was driven only like 5 miles a day then u would have to worry about oil condensation and other related problems. I also would look around the car to see if the car is neglected in anyway like check what type of tires he has on. if someone can afford decent tires who knows what else's the cheaped out on

So you sell your blue X5 to buy an M5, then willing to sell the M5 to buy a blue X5 with alcantara sport seats? It would be cheaper and less hassle for you to recover the seat in alcantara.

Does it still have the original oil in it (BMW recommends 15 k miles)?

Seems like just yesterday he was selling the Estoril that was well maintained to get his dream car. I would recover the interior and equip with a Dynavin N6 if I wanted to "refresh" lol

I agree that not driving the car isn’t good for the car but how much damage it causes due to not driving the car is bit exaggerated. Ferrari owners keep their Ferraris as garage queen for most of its life so most have very low miles but they don’t have issues with all the seals failing. And I wouldn’t hesitate on purchasing F40 or Enzo with only 2k miles if I had the money. I have few cars that spends most of it life in storage and have very low miles. None of them have single leak. Car is low mileage once...
