Anyone Run Continental Extremecontact DW?

Plenty of feedback out there on the DWS. This thread is about the DW.

Curious if anyone is running these and if so can you share feedback on them? Thanks!

I'm interested in this as well since these are the tires that I'm considering for my 20" wheels.

I'm ordering a set. The attractive price, good reviews, tread pattern, non-runflat design, appropriate load rating and 340 wear rating was too much to pass up on a summer tire.

336 20" wheels here.

I'm curious about other folks input on this tire. I'm stuck. My fronts have one season on them (dimaris) and the rear almost done. I can easily buy two new rears for $800 or a whole new set for 1k with the contis.

I ran a set of these on the rear of my E90 but was extremely disappointed with the mileage!!! I bought them last year as dedicated summer tires and with only 7-8K miles (roughly 12,000 km) they are completely worn out!!!! Granted I don't drive like a grandma all the time but when compared with DWS's that I had previously these lasted about a 1/3 as long. Not impressed especially considering I had to get these replaced after a week under warranty because the first set wasn't round. In my personal opinion Conti's have let their quality control slide over the years as also evidenced by a recall on my front motorcycle tire on my BMW S1000RR motorcycle. My $0.02.

What were your alignment settings, specifically the toe on both axles?

Alignment was perfect. Wore out evenly across the width of the tire in the back on both sides

"Perfectly" within OE specifications leave a lot to be desired with regards to tire wear. Do you have the alignment results from when the tires were installed?

When it comes to X5's, you are correct. Lots of negative camber on ours but I'm talking about overall mileage on my 3-Series that doesn't have camber issues (previously tires wore just as evenly but lasted three times as long with no difference in driving style, i.e. DWS's). The DW's are cheap and soft based on my experience. I won't go back. Maybe DWS's, but not the summers.

Okay, first, this is not the same type of vehicle or tires, but on my M5, I've run as much as -2 degrees or -2.5 degrees of camber and driven over 30k miles on Michelin PS2 and PSS tires; almost 40k on the PS2. A lot of people don't get a quarter of that. I use very minimal toe in on my M5 to gain this mileage.

While a lot of negative camber will wear tires excessively I doubt you are running anything close to that amount with alignment that can be described as "perfect" or within OE specifications.

We all drive differently and in different conditions but the one equalizer can be what the actual and specific alignment numbers that we each use when it comes to describing how a tire performs.
So, what were your alignment numbers for camber and toe? Since your experience with the DW was on an E90, it might not translate to the E70 but it still is required to give your report any validity in this discussion.

Now, as far as being out of round, there is no argument there. That's just poor quality.
