2011 E 70 "TRANSMISSION FAILURE" light

My issue actually happened while at the dealership service center for service on the front brakes. They ran diagnostics in the AM prior to servicing the front breaks and there were no indications of a fault. The service guy brought my vehicle around and I asked him to take the vehicle back and fix a cosmetic issue with the license plate; an hour later he comes back and tells me the vehicle won't start. I got the service director involved, he spoke with the tech and indicated that there were transmission faults showing on the diagnostics within the last 5 miles (tech did a 2 mile test drive after servicing the breaks.) Will know more next week.

"transmission malfunction" light/stuck in PARK update 2

I want to thank everyone for their replies/posts. I find on most forum's when you give information, some folks don't respond to your problem, but to the content, such as I posted "all my required service's were performed by the same dealership".
Yes I understand the transmission fluid is not required to be serviced, but I never indicated I had the transmission serviced! I am having the ongoing "Transmission Malfunction" lights appear on the dash and on the Itouch screen. I am able to start the car but car will not move out of "PARK".
Vehicle is still in dealership, waiting....... This is the third time it has done this in one month. No indications of any problems at anytime were ever scene or indicated.

This is really strange. I have been reading about this happening in a few E60's. All were resolved as "electronic glitch" and had the firmware re-flashed.

Additionally- how was the tow driver able to get the X5 on the flatbed without being able to shift into neutral?

Keep us updated, I'm interested in hearing the solution.

Vehicle needed dollies under all 4 wheels. Next it was pulled up via cable and winch.

You were the one that felt it was critical to mention youve had all the required services done by the dealer. As if perhaps if you had not, the omission of one of those services might have been the cause of this transmission issue.

So which service was this?

Or, was it just a silly general comment that reflected your frustration with a car not working? That's OK, just dont get huffy when someone points it out... you will get some good technical advice if thats what you ask for...if all you want is to complain, you can do that as well.

Finally, what reply are you expecting? Your sole question appears to be "anyone else have this issue?"

Answer is "yes others have had it" and "no, I did not"

2011 E 70 "TRANSMISSION FAILURE" light

Just got my 2011 E70 back. Dealer had it a week. My 328i feels like a toy after driving the 535i with the M package for 10 days.

Dealer replaced the Mechatronic, cost me $0 even though my warranty expired March '15

I was contacted this morning that it was the same unit that needed replacement. It will take several more days until my x5 is ready. I'll keep you posted.

Way dead thread revival...

I was wondering if either of you had the problem present itself again after having the mechatronics unit replaced?

Thanks.

Replying to your question - I had my sleeve replaced by a shop when I bought the car, had several issues crop up 3-4 months later that was determined to be low fluid level in the transmission pan.

So - long story short - for myself, no. once the sleeve was replaced, the leaking stopped, shifting issues stopped, and light went away.

Good to know. Thanks!
