my E70 X5 diesel -DPF/SCR/EGR/DEF Delete (with video)
I have an e70 x5 diesel - US (canadian) spec and decided to remove the DPF, DEF, EGR, SCR and replace it with a custom catted DPF Delete pipe and another pipe to remove the larger cat.
At the same time, I wanted to completely remove the EGR so I had some brackets fabricated and made a kit to bypass the coolant. I now don't have to worry about my EGR leaking ![]() Anyways, here's a vid of the first startup. The only difference is you hear the turbos in the exhaust. Its about -15 when I took the 2nd video (this morning) It doesn't really smoke.. The only smoke you'd see is the small amount you see at the 1:05 mark. I live in Alberta, canada and we don't have emissions. If we did I'm sure it'll at least be a few years down the road and worst case scenario I part it out. Best case, we never get emissions. I'm not concerned. |

I have been trying to do the same but around New York area no one even wants to talk about it due to emissions and other bs. Where you flashed your ecu? Do you currently have any errors? Hows performance after mod? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Did you get the bimmeroem delete hardware/tune? Please post up a couple pics of the brackets that were fabricated. Sounds good.

Nope, I didn't go with the bimmeroem one. With the CAD$ the way it is, I did everything in canada. I will snap some pics and post them. I had the pieces made on a waterjet CNC machine. They're the exact same thickness as the original brackets so I was able to retain the use of the OEM bolts.

Can you tell us how you performed this, looks like its in your garage. Did you use jack stands or a lift? How hard was it to remove the DPF and such?
I DIY would be great but i know that will be a lot of work so i wont ask for that :p This is something i will be doing in the future.

It's not an easy task to do. You'll need to lower your subframe to remove your DPF. In order to lower your subframe, you'll need an engine hoist and also remove the passenger motor mount. (There is 1 bolt thats an absolute pain to remove) It was too tight to take pictures, or I normally do DIY vids on these sort of things. If I had a hoist, it would take me less time. Having done one now, I could save some time doing another one. I'll say this tho, it took a lot longer than I thought it would. Fighting with the DPF once it was loose and ready to come out wasn't fun. Once i got everything out, putting the new pipe back in was simple. |

Yeah, taking out the DPF is no fun at all. I did it on the jack stands too, but instead of dropping the subframe I removed the passenger side engine mount. No cursing was spared.
