Does the X5M brakes fit to X5 4.8i?

Hy guys

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but on the 4th of May my car is scheduled to regular service check-up and i would like to order front & rear X5M brakes. Do you think is a straight swap?

My car is a '08 X5 4.8i. I think they should fit straight

Better make sure you have 20"+ wheels because the front rotors are HUGE. How much is the full conversion of rotors, calipers, brackets, etc? Probably cheaper to buy a brembo GT setup.

I have 20" wheels. Front rotors are 395mm, and rears 385mm. Big size !! I would like the X5M brakes because i can keep the pad wearing sensor and i like them over the Brembo's

Did you do the brake upgrade to the M brakes?
If so, how much did it cost and are you happy with the result?

There is no way that your rotors are 395mm & 385mm rears on your current X5 unless its a X5M. The rotors on a V8 X5 are 365mm fronts & 345mm rears.

You will need rotors & caliper off a X5M to make it work, unless your statement is just phrased wrong!

I know this is an old thread..... But I can never understand why people want to upgrade brakes on theses vehicles.
The stock systems are MORE than adequate for the power they have.
If its look and Brembos... Ok. You have some money burning a hole in your pocket. Otherwise.....

Interesting thread.

Back in the day, race teams went to lower profile tires and bigger rims- ALL to get bigger brakes under the rim.

People saw this design feature on cars, and pretty soon everyone was upsizing rims- the bigger the better- with ZERO interest in WHY.

So went I see someone wanting to fill the wheel up with brakes, go for it. Better than stupid puny rotors sitting in huge rims.

I always chuckle at my bro's Escalade on huge rims. Those brake rotors are so tiny for a vehicle this size, and with oversize rims.. looks funny.
By the way, rotors on regular x5 are bigger in diameter than most vehicles, large and small. In addition, the brake pads seem to be wider (judging from shiny part of the rotor).

That could explain stopping distance for x5 being shorter by ~30 feet compared to competition.

That reminds me. I got iDrive telling me my brake service is due. 1300 miles for fronts, 2500 for back. A bit weird how it works. A month ago, iDrive told me my fronts are due in 15K, rears due at 3K. Now the fronts "passed" the rears in a couple weeks time.

I find it weird that they shedded 13,700miles worth of life in a couple weeks
