If you can't diy find a good indy this shouldn't cost that much at a good indy.
Changed the gasket only?

I have an '08 3.0si, and just had the same leak in the oil filter housing. It's a pretty solid piece of metal, so really the only thing there is to leak there is the gasket. There are two on the sport model...the one where the housing connects to the block, and the gasket where the oil cooler connects to the housing. One or both could have failed and cause a bit of a leak.

The cost for each gasket...from the dealer...was $30/each. The bolts are reusable, so really only $75-80 bucks in parts. As others have said, the dealer tends to want to remove the whole intake manifold to get at one bolt, which really isn't necessary. I changed out both gaskets myself for less than $100 in parts and about 1.5 hrs of work.

Sorry, Should have been more specific. The oil filter housing gasket where the housing meets the engine and the oil cooler gasket where the cooler meets the front of the filter housing.....the little gaskets harden and leak with time.

In my case the gasket failed in a way that it was pissing all over the serpentine belt and the firewall and the truck squealed at every cold startup. Of course that wasn't covered by my extended warranty so I did it myself.

I'm going to order the 2 gaskets and do it myself. Thanks for the replies!

I think the main cost is because BMW Removes the intake manifold which is not needed to complete this job. I to use the dealership for my oil changes. $100 is and free breakfast is well worth it to me rather than dicking around with the oil change myself and the cost is minimal in retrospect.
This works for a 2007 with 3.0?

Its for the N52 Engine so, Yes it Should Work. If you don't have a flex head E torx it may be difficult to gain access to the rear oil filter housing bolt which warrants loosening of the manifold which is no biggie.

Id suggest a good degreasing after replacing the gaskets due to the oil leaking all over the engine and hoses. On the E70, you'll need to remove that superficial cross member that holds the hood release cable. (good time to lube the releases A LOT)

While youre in there the bottom bolt for the oil cooler (Rectangular block in front of the housing) (if you have it) is not accessible with a e-torx socket. You will need an e-torx wrench. If not you will need to remove the radiator hose which is in the engine with 2 10 or 11 mm hex heads. I replaced the gasket on that hose when I did the radiator. BE CAREFUL WITH THAT HOSE. The Housing gets brittle over time and can crack easily.

Any Questions feel free to ask.
