Hi everyone. New to the forum (first post) and new to BMW. Just purchased a 2007 X5 here in frozen Canada and I'm looking at this remote starter. Question for OP @95wildtt my X5 has comfort access so with this installed, could anyone just unlock my doors by grabbing the handle and drive away with my vehicle? Confused about how that would work.

Hi and welcome...
No, the only way CA system works is if you have the BMW CA Key fob with you, like normal. The RS system only fools the X5 into thinking there is a key fob in the key-slot to allow it to start, but it won't activate any of the CA features. The X5 remains locked until you unlock it either with CA, or by pressing the unlock on one of the LR remotes or a BMW key-fob. BTW, the third party LR remotes don't activate the CA either, so if you want to use the normal CA unlock/lock feature you will have to carry both a LR remote and your CA key fob. The only "downside" that I have found ![]() Thanks for asking, John B
