Well, with outside temp 100F, interior temp 150F+ and the engine running on IDLE and the car stationary it will take hours to cool the cabin to a comfortable level. Nothing will bring a faster cool down as windows down, engine at 1500+ RPM and the car moving.

We would have wanted to hear your environmental talk in the morning in Indiana with 7 F outside temperature. That biting cold steering wheel and seats would make you run back inside, leaving engine idling, seat heaters on full.

i *currently live in* vancouver, i don't come from here. nice try.
and even if i did it wouldn't moot my point. there are better alternatives.

also: it is not *my* environmental talk. it's a worldwide issue that is being addressed, whether or not i agree with it and/or any of the measures taken or proposed.

Hey ulf...why don't you go ULF yourself? Or are you just having a ton of fun littering a thread for no reason other than to promote your stupid view of environmentalism? You do realise you're arguing with people about a specific option...via a device that certainly required an immense amount of environmental impact to even create?

Until you're ready to have this argument via quill pen, with ink made from some local plant, written on paper made from some other local plant, sent via carrier pigeon from your shack in the woods...stfu

Girls!, girls!... you're both pretty...

No, remote starts are not as environmentally friendly as just getting in and driving. They also just add more wear and tear on your engine...

I also don't think it's a horrible atrocity to the environment to install one on your car as long as you use it in a non-lazy-as-shit manner. It was 5 degrees here in Columbus Ohio yesterday morning. NEGATIVE 5 with the wind chill. I would have loved to be able to start the car up for a couple minutes to take the edge off before heading to work.

In the summer I don't think I would ever use it... Everyone knows you can press and hold the unlock button on your key fob for a couple seconds and it will roll all of your windows down to let the heat out before you get in right!? Dead of winter is a different story though...

Would I get a remote start on my car if I didn't have other things to worry about first? You bet your sweet ass I would... But I truly don't know that I would use it much...

But if we are going to get on our high horses then lets all explain why we aren't driving a Toyota Prius, Tesla, Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, or the plethora of other more fuel efficient cars on the market...

On this topic, I just feel its about responsible use and I don't see a problem with it. Just don't be one of those guys using their remote start every day year round because "it's cool"

If you want to attack someone for their environmentally unfriendly vehicle, then go yell at those needle dick coal rollers first...

Now kiss and make up!

unnecessarily so, indeed. also interesting to note that a number of his comments on this site employ ad hominem attacks in lieu of basically any kind of sensible contribution.

maybe to US auto makers it's not a big deal but for a global manufacturer that prides itself on their oft-touted "efficient dynamics", decades of research into alternative fuels and the oh-so-green i line of vehicles it would only be prudent to not include functions that are, in fact, not even legal in many countries their vehicles are sold in. again, whether or not i agree with it makes absolutely no odds. that means in no way that i'm either defending or criticising the move. in fact, i don't even *know* if that's the actual reason. obviously there are always some hicks around who equate a mere mention of the environment as some kind of commie sh*t and then act out in a rather immature fashion. i don't think it requires anymore finger pointing to highlight who these people are.

on top of that: if it's too much or too expensive to own and maintain a BMW, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives available. as pointed out before: chevrolet offers remote start in their vehicles. no-one is forced to drive one of these (according to some on here) worst cars BMW has made in a hundred years. go buy a damn ford or whatever.

Question: Is this the exact same thing as what Flashlogic sells?

Branding across both sites appears to be the same/similar.

I'm pretty sure that it is...

The web sites look identical, other than the colors and model names, and the product itself looks to be the same 2 module design with the T-harnesses.
They appear to have the exact same list of features that they support also.
It looks like the Flashlogic may come without the 2x long range remotes (they also have a much shorter list of compatible LR remotes on their web site than ADS does) while the ADS does include the 2x long range remotes in the kit.
Look at the "What's Included Tab" for these:
Flashlogic - FLRSBM1
iDatalink - ADS-BM1

You will need to buy a compatible LR remote kit (remotes, antenna & antenna cable) if you want to use something beyond the OE BMW key fob and it's very limited range.

Flashlogic compatible remotes:Flashlogic - Compatible Remotes
ADS compatible remotes:iDatalink - Compatible Remotes

The lack of included LR remotes, and a rather limited LR remote expansion capability, seem to be the only difference that I can see.

Thanks,
John
