It may very well be the starter, but there are other tests to help confirm.
Fuel pump and everything else don't draw ~600 amps and they don't depend on engine ground strap for operation. Before you change starter you might want to do as Ozer suggests. If it still won't crank with push button, connect the (2) starter terminals (shown with thick red line) in the attached w/ someone else's screw driver or heavy piece of wire. Wire will get hot so be careful. Engine will turnover if battery & starter are OK.

Just finished installing the new starter. Bit of a pain. I removed the intake completely because there is hardly any wiggle room. Getting to the starter with the intake in place was pissing me off. I didn't want to break any wires that are attached to the intake from moving and yanking. It was a bitch, one of the CCV hoses on the intake was a fucking cock sucker to remove. I fought with the SOB for 10 minutes till I got it out. I will button everything back up tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Is it even possible to replace the starter with the intake in place?

There is a video on youtube and it looks like the guy changed the starter with the intake in place. I tried to get my socket in there and quickly found that it was going to be damn near impossible to do. Glad I didn't spend more than a few minutes trying to do it with the intake on.

Just finished putting everything back together. As suspected it was the starter. Not only does it start up faster, but the starter also makes a cleaner sounding "starting" sound. Now that I compare the 2 starters(sounds and the actual starter, the old one was showing signs of failing, just never noticed because I didn't have anything to compare it to. The old starter makes a ching sound when shaken. No doubt it was at the end of its life. Now I have 2 problems. 1 is the passenger airbag light is on because I removed a fuse in the back when she left me stranded. Need to reset that. 2 is i'm getting a AWD 4x4 DSC malfunction. Already turned the wheel left and right all the way, took her out for a drive, but its not going away. I remember before pulling everything apart, I dropped a screw driver on accident by the alternator and it sparked. Must of hit ground and the positive connection on the alternator. Could that have caused the issue? Going take a look at the fuses.

I got the battery discharging while stopped error. Just connected my Noco to her and going to let her charge. I'm hoping it was just the low battery causing the error.

Had the same light when I drained my battery to nothing. Charged it and started, light still there. Then did the left/right process and it went away.

Last night I checked all of the fuses that were related to the DTS and all seem fine. Battery got fully charged and i'm still getting the AWD error. Anybody have any ideas on what it could be ?
