Trying to be cheap

Considering I never keep my cars more than one year. I just bought a 08x5 4.8 and unfortunately it still has no heat after replacing the thermostat. The more I have read I assume the next part to replace would be the heater control valve.. Anyone ever buy the 70 dollar one on eBay with succes?? Or should I just buy the BMW one for 250? Any help would be appreciated

I actually tried the 35 ebay heater control valve, at first I was going to swap the rubber seal since you couldn't find them anywhere. After receiving the product I actually inspect the quality and it look good quality except the solenoid was silver instead of black. It's been on the car for about 3 month heater now works.
