It looks like someone got the shifting maps from a 3.0 gas or single turbo diesel, and just copied it to the 35D tranny, when out of boost that is. Wherever it needs load to spool the turbos(higher gear) it just downshifts and revs the engine to the redline on 1st-2nd gear. Counter-productive for twin-turbo diesel. When the engine is loaded already and boost is present, it is acting pretty decent. Especially with Stage2

I think in passing situations, I would actually like a quicker downshift. I find my stage to be laggy in passing situations (not big turbo laggy mind you). You can definitely feel a noticeable delay at say 50mph when passing before the large turbo spools fully and the engine is making maximum hp power. Helpful when squirting through traffic. Or maybe I'm just getting too used to my X5Ms insta spool engine.

The XHP flashtool just started supporting x5 35d! Stage 1 looks nice, but I have to wait until I do my inspection because it clears codes and resets the dde when you flash. I hate the amount of time this bmw diesel takes to reset OBD emissions readiness

Have had stage 2 xhp for a few days now. Compliments stage 1 tune I have very well. It handles mountain runs and slow/fast starts so much better than stock! Love the new maps, it really is worth it if you have a tune.

Is the stage 2 shifting at a lower Rpm at low throttle for d than stock? It's hard to decide on 1vs 2 in terms of that... If they raised the room in D mode for stg2 then if rather run 1 for economy, because there's always a for performance

You'll need an OTG and OBD to DCAN cables. All in will be about $200.

There's also a VM that lets you do it from a laptop. Android Emulator + Carly Pro
