CAS question for 2013 X5M

Hi everyone, first post for me.

I've searched through the site to find the answer to this question but keep finding conflicting answers.

I bought a second key for my 2013 X5M with CAS (ordered from BMW with proof of ownership), it works fine to unlock and start the vehicle (in the key slot only).

How do I get the CAS features to work with this new key? I don't have a key symbol on the steering column. I do have iCarly programming ability, but that's it. I was told by the guy I bought it from that no programming was necessary but BMW says it is indeed needed. I don't want to drop another $200 on this if I can help it.

Any help?
