Potential New e70 Owner with Questions
Hello All,
I'm looking at a two X5's this Friday and was hoping to get some advice. First a little background on myself. I have two e30's, a vert and track car that recently suffered a huge impact with the wall at Watkins Glen after a brake failure, some may recall the Jalopnik article last month. So I come from an older BMW background. My reasons for looking at the X5 are mostly based upon the towing capacity and my experience with BMW's. I have a daily 03 Honda Pilot with 170k that has served me well but is nearing the point where refreshing the whole suspension is just about the cost of the truck is worth. Also after my track incident, I've begun the process of building a fully caged track e30 that I eventually hope to compete with. Alas that means I will need something capable of towing the e30 and lightweight aluminum trailer since the car will not be driven on the street. The two trucks I am looking at for are both the V8 options. After doing some research it seems that most mention the reliability of these motors. So I wanted to know if I'm pursuing a huge money pit. If the 6's less power when towing is worth the trade vs. the 8. I keep the car in NYC on the street (which I am not thrilled about). Wondering about how bad the mpg's are also. The two I'm looking at tomorrow are as follows.- 2011 - xDrive50i 77k for 17,900k with class 3 towing already installed. Description is as follows. Fully-loaded V8 SUV with factory tow hitch with desirable Nevada Brown Leather interior. Clean CarFax; no accidents; non-smoker; no pets.Car comes with a transferrable extended warranty agreement valid until August 2017 or 80,534 miles with $0 deductible! BMW Gold Service Package performed at 57K miles. Two tires just replaced; other two have 80%+ tread. E-mail me for full datasheet from BMW.V8 Twin Turbo, 400hp, AWD in Metallic Black Sapphire with Nevada Brown Leather. Extended Service Agreement valid until August 2017 or 80,534 miles with $0 deductible. Heated, adjustable seats with lumbar support and memory; heated, leather steering wheel with tilt/telescope position memory. Navigation System with Satellite Radio, Voice Command and Real-Time Traffic Information. 16-speaker Premium Stereo; Comfort Access Keyless Entry; Automatic climate control with 4-zone control. Rear Back-up Camera; Park Distance Control; BMW Assist with Bluetooth; Power tailgate; Security System; Interface for USB/smartphone; additional USB interface to add music to onboard hard drive; interior mirror with digital compass. Factory Class III trailer tow hitch; vehicle rated to 6000 lbs. Xenon HID headlamps; rear side window shades; rear storage cover; running boards.19 inch wheels with TPMS/run-flat tires with 80-100% tread. Other is a 2012 xDrive50i 29k miles for 26k from BMW Dealership with all the packages. Not to much other info on this one. Any input and advice is GREATLY appreciated!!
