what to do with turbos, how to repair ?

You need to find out where the oil is escaping from first. The turbo(s) is only a suggestion and possibility. I still think changing oil brand and weight would be the first and easiest trial.

Going from a 5-40 to a 5-30 will NOT lower consumption. I think that is a given.

Oil separators can cause that issue in other BMWs. Not sure how to diagnose. Pretty cheap to try I think.
