X35D transmission rebuild or what?
I have a 2009 x35D with 122,000 miles. Since I bought it, it has had an irritating issue when compared to my previous E53.
When I roll up to an intersection and want to proceed without coming to a complete stop, it seems to not engage. I wouldn't call it slipping. I just feels like it's waiting for RPM's before it kicks in. Once I get to an adequate RPM level it takes off. (reminds me of a centrifugal clutch on a belt-drive go-cart or snowmobile) If I come to a complete stop and then engage, it seems to be fine. It's only if the car doesn't completely stop. It's not a new behavior but seems to have become a bit more pronounced over the 75,000 miles I've driven it. I changed fluid at 55K miles and then fluid and filter at 115K. I had the square rubber piece between the valve body replaced during that time also just because I was there. Same result. Programming is up to date. Periodically when I park on a slight incline, the vehicle will roll slightly after the engine is shut off and the brake is released. I assume a solenoid sticks but not sure. I'm curious of several things: 1. Should I just replace the valve body / solenoids and see what happens (I hate to spend that much money only to find it's a transmission issue) 2. Has anyone found a good outlet for a reman transmission? 3. What would you suggest since a new transmission and install is roughly what the car is worth? I love the car and the 30MPG I get. I'd just like to figure out this annoying issue. |
