Well yesterday it happened.....I started it up and the lovely burnt plastic smell came pouring through the vents. For a week prior, I thought I had a leaking valve cover gasket, burning oil smell at idle. I pulled the plastic engine cover and felt all around and it was bone dry. When the temps dropped to sub-arctic it went away. Yesterday that smell was extremely strong. It subsided on my trip home but my SA said he will order the parts and take care of it asap. They suggested that I dont drive the X5 but didnt have any loaners available until next week.....

Bonus though...If I remember correctly the PCV is integrated into the valve cover which means they will have to pull it and replace anyway.

Nice if true. I had to have the valve cover gasket swapped out early on. Keep us updated.
