Transmission flush
My 2012 X5d has 96k on it. Is it recommended to flush the transmission at this time or should I wait or never do it at all? |

ZF the transmission manufacturer recommends ATF service at 60k miles. It is a cheap maintenance compare to a new transmission ! I changed my pan, drained atf and filled~ 7 liters. It’s a fairly easy procedure. You should drain it, not flush. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Drain (by removing the pan) and fill twice will replace most of the fluid. Make sure to replace the pan, as that is where the filter is. Get a ZF branded pan/filter. The same transmission is used in some Fords I believe, so you can use an OEM Ford fluid (can't remember which one). It's far cheaper than the ZF Lifeguard fluid.
Edit: It's Mercon SP.
