My review/comparision of the E53 vs the E70

I am making a series of videos showing the pros and cons of the E70 vs the E53. Some things I like and some things not so much.

Lets start out with the cruise control.

E70 : 1 vs E53 : 0 on this one.

The water pump. This one is tuff and strictly depends on ones point of view. I personally prefer the mechanical of the E53 over the electric pump the E70 has. Having a pump that fails with some kind of warning, is easy to change anywhere and is carried by tons of parts houses is a real plus over the electric pump the E70 has. Not to mention the E53's pump cost nothing compared to the $400 for the E70's super hard to install electric pump.

But when it comes to all out performance the E70 wins hands down.

So this one I call a draw on. My vote is the E53 so Im giving it to the E53.

E53 : 1 vs E70 : 0

Sub count tied at 1 vs 1

I watched the second video on the electric water pump. Do you think that the electric water pump is controlling the temp or DME controlled thermostat, or is there even a thermostat on the E70 ??

It has a thermostat and the pump is computer controlled too. So it can change the speed of the pump and open and close the thermostat as needed.

This is interesting because I have noticed that E70s seem to be selling cheaper than the E53s (here anyway) when you take the mileage into account.

Sorry about the double post of this thread. I thought I was posting it in the E53 section and put it here instead and I don't see a way to move it so I remade it over there and since 80stech responded I didn't want to delete it. Again sorry for the double thread starting.

I would assume that is because the E70 require so much more than the E53 X5 in terms of maintenance. Most of the time these vehicles are not taken care of the way that they should and as they approach 100K every single gasket seems to shit out within 20K of each other. Plus needing the fluid changes, plugs, coil packs, water pump etc....not to mention the insane amount of Tech on the E70's, the E53 is simple by comparison. Plus the market is saturated with E70's, E53's not so much.
