Retrofit LCI seat and the challenges...

My first post on the forum so I'm hoping someone can help. My appologies if this has already been discussed.

I have a 2007 E70 that has standard leather seats. I managed to source a mint set of electric memory Sport seats, probably from a LCI car.

The passenger seat is completely plug and plug so that's easy - I've tested it and it in the car and it works fine with no errors.

The new drivers seat is a different matter as it has the memory module underneath (my existing seat had no module) .

Here's the issue: when I started to fit the seat to the car, I noticed the smaller of the two yellow connectors is different to the existing one. Moreover, the new seats have 4 wires entering into this connection block and my car just has two....much googling and I don't know how to manage this part of the installation.

Anyway, does anybody have any suggestions or experience in overcoming this situation? Worst case scenario I could rewire the safety systems of the new seats to the same configuration as my existing items, however I'm sure someone must have faced this previously and can advise.

Existing seat and connection:

New LCI seat that I'm intending on fitting:

Thanks for reading.

Thanks very much for responding, however I can't find the info on the wiring for the small yellow connector.

Can anybody who's more familiar with TIS help?

I have never seen the manual style seats that you have. North American X5s never got those. In North America, it was easy to upgrade seats as the connectors are all the same between all variations of the seats.

Sorry I cannot help as I have not researched this further

Plug in what fits and see what does not work. Do your existing two wires match any of the new 4 wires?

Thanks. That's my point, the connection block on the smaller yellow connector is not plug n play and will require rewiring.*

The car (old seat) has the following 2 coloured wires:

Yellow with brown tracer
Yellow with red tracer

The new LCI seat has the following 4 coloured wires:

Grey with black tracer
Grey with brown tracer
Yellow with black tracer
Yellow with brown tracer

Without identifying the schematic for your old seat AND the new seat, nobody is going to figure this out.

Unless you are seeking a 'one in a million- yeah I am in the UK and did that same swap' type response.

This was much easier than expected.

For future reference, I needed to do two things:

The small yellow connector is for the seat belt pre tensioner (yellow wires) and headrest safety system (grey wires) . I simply rewired the connection block using just the two yellow pre tensioner wires and isolated the remaining two grey wires.

I then needed to move main 12v live wire in the large connector to a different position. All other wires were a perfect match - position and colour.

The drivers seats is now fully fitted in the car with no errors and works perfectly.

Pictures to follow.

Thanks for all the replies.

Hello, I saw that you changed your normal seats for sport ones.

the problem of the active headrest and the belt pretensioner you solved it well.

of the big yellow connector X275 I suppose you changed the pin 4 of the Sport seat, which is red / green from the battery power supply, to the 9 that the normal seats had

but to feed the button on the side of the seat that regulates the height, inclination, headrest height, longitudinal movement as well as the lumbar adjustment ... if I do not make a mistake with pin 4 when changing it to 9 you feed the SMFA module under the seat and For this reason, the motors, but the keypad is connected by the BUS line to the SMFA, it is not powered by it but by a fuse at the rear on the right that corresponds to pin 6 of X275 ... which I think you did not have ... .
