Tire Recommendation for 275/40R20 & 315/35R20

Hey Guys!

I have been running Toyo Proxes S/T II tires on my X5s for 10+ years, but I'm getting tired (no pun intended) of the noise after 25,000 miles.

So I'm looking to replace them. Tire size is 275/40R20 & 315/35R20. I'd prefer an all-season option, but I'm so out of the game that I don't know what everyone is doing now! HELP!

I run vredestein (https://www.vredestein.com/car-suv-v...-finder/tyres/)
in the summer but they do have an all-season option.

I dropped the run flats on my e70 and bought myself a full set of General Grabbers, I have had their tyres on my Mitsubishi trucks previously and have proved to be a good tyre. It's only recently that I found out that General are actually part of the Continental group. The ride has improved immensely since putting them on, road noise is no worse, but when driving over a bumpy road, my fillings don't rattle anymore.

Michelle,

Hope you'be been well, haven't spoken back and forth on the forums since '06!

I just purchased Continental DWS 06 in these sizes and they're better in almost every category than my previous Toyo STII's.

They should last much longer as 560 treadwear is better than the 420 that the Toyo's had, but they are pricey at around $1000 wiyth road hazard for a full set.

LOL I know! It's like stepping back in time!

Thank you! I think I like those. Do you have any pics of them on your X from the side and rear?

The soft sidewalls I'm reading about are scaring me away from the Continental DWS 06s. Any other suggestions?

I agree with Dblock, I still have some tread left on my Toyo's but hope to soon replace with the Conti DWS's.( I also never run the runflats)

I love my Falken FK453CC tires. Quiet. Smooth. And very impressed with tread life.

Directional tires typically get noisier with mileage. Even with proper alignment specs, directional tires can still get louder with even wear and the slightest uneven wear, especially on staggered set-ups that we can't rotate. Some will have better luck than others,(mine are glass smooth with about the same amount of mileage) but still would like a younger set as mine are about 4 years old. For the quietest tires, read lots of reviews and try and stick with symmetrical or asymmetrical tires.(Name Brand of course) Directional tires are geared more for "sport" applications and not necessarily "pushes water out of the way better" as a lot of people are misled to.
