Not sure of the history of this vehicle, but was it taken off road with heavy use (rock climbing), involved in some sort of collision, dropped from a lift...?
For both sides to be broken at the same point suggests something more than a pothole, unless it was the width of the entire vehicle + sufficient speed. At least to me.
