Anyone come from an E53?

I’m actually thinking about getting an 05-06 4.8iS and was wondering if anyone came from an E53 to their E70?

Would you go back? Or never again?

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

Never owned an E53, the E70 was my first BMW SAV. I've had E39s 530 & 540s in the past and both including my current E70 were a joy to own.

Have not actually "come from it" as we still have the '01 E53 3.0L. They are different beasts but the family relationship is there and easy enough to spot. I like both vehicles and have no regrets about either so far. We have only owned the E53 for 14 years so it is still relativity new to us.

Both cars are fun to drive. I am biased towards my E70 X5D as it is Turboed and fully deleted and in terms of e53 parts are harder to come by.

I find it the opposite. E53 has been around for longer so more aftermarket and OEM are available and usually cheaper? Maybe because it's NOS or just an abundance of it?

Also it just seems more of an enthusiast car, not saying the E70 isn't but unless you go with the X5M there doesn't seem much of an aftermarket support (I'm talking about performance modding/aesthetic stuff lol)

This thread should be retitled: Should I get a 4.6is or X5M?
