2011 30D feels like its slipping between front and rear wheel drive

You bought a car with a failed transfer case. They are jerking you around- they probably have no clue. (other than a stupid BMW 'check tyres, sizes and wear' and exited the flowchart at that point)

Its what happens when you buy 7 year old used cars. Good luck with the XC90, Id go for it.

So Ard, it appears you were correct. The vehicle was eventually taken to Cooper BMW AT Preston Farm Stockton Uk where they diagnosed the Transfer case and replaced it. To give Evans Halshaw credit they loaned me a vehicle for the total extent of time it took them to diagnose and replace which was about 4 weeks in total and they didn’t event try to get me to put it through the warranty like I thought they would.
Now I have the car working correctly I really like it.
