3.0si Transmission issue

hello Everyone,

I recently picked up an X5 with bad transmission it seems. The shifter will not go out of park. If I attempt to put in drive, then the shifter will force back to park itself. It does this in all gears I put in (reverse, N, D, DS). I did have 4F84 code but thats the only code that keeps coming back after new battery installed. I do not know about any other codes.

I did replace solenoids, bridge adapter between transmission and valvebody, 4 sealing sleeves, and mechatronic sleeve. I topped off with new oil as well. This did not fix anything and was at same state it was before the repair.

I have decided to get used transmission and I know that I need to get computer recoded or transfer computer from original transmission to new transmission. From my understanding with ZF I spoke with, they usually need to transfer computer system in transmission to new transmission.

Can someone show me how to transfer computer from original transmission to new transmission? Also, where can I find this transmission computer module?

Yes I have checked many videos. Most was very informative, but it did not help me solve the issues I have.

Is the security thing that houses the vavebody? Is that one I need to transfer to new transmission? If I did that, I should not have any issues with coding?

I might also suggest you not only search for "e70 x5 transmission"...but look at ANYTHING that is BMW plus the same transmission (aka GA6HP26).

Not sure if you undertook this time consuming, annoying and expensive path and DID NOT have BMW software to do transmission diagnostics, look at transmission codes, etc, etc. Did you just have an ODB reader? painful.

There should be lots of posts on this trans, and how to swap. Just takes some googling

I did more research. The transmission EGS is part of valve body that can be removed and then transferred into new transmission valve body. I should be able to do it no issue.

Update: I put in new transmission in. Now the X5 is up and running great. I swapped EGS over with no problem.

I am reflecting on the transmission. I wonder if previous owner improperly filled the transmission fluid in first place.

I know for sure the mechatronic is in great shape. I tried both mechatronic in my transmission. Both shifted fine in my used transmission. I elected to use same mechatronic that came with used transmission and refreshed all of stuff like solenoids, seals, etc.
