Largest tire size for square setup?
The tire shop is thinking I can run 295 wide tire and they figure the would stick out in the front around 1.25" wider than stock. I'm fine with the more aggressive look, I just want to avoid rubbing. If anyone has any experience with square setups I would appreciate your input on experiences. If I'm not mistaken at least one of Xoutpost's members runs square.. I just can't recall who. Thanks in advance for any input! |

I am sure 295 has been done by some on the board but you are not saying how wide the wheel is? 9, 9.5, 10? I have the arch extensions on my e70 and run 275/40 on 9x20 all around. IIRC 38mm offset.
I have 20mm spacers on the front and 40mm in the back to get the rubber lining up better with the exterior. 295 on 9.5 is probably doable but it would put a lot of weight on the front axle. Let us know what you decide in the end?

I run 295/40R20 all around on 20x11 style 214s.
30mm rear spacer. 10mm front spacer. No rubbing. The extra height of the 295/40 is nice. Much smoother. You can find pictures I’ve posted to this forum.

Here's a couple pictures.
With the spacers mentioned, the front and rear wheels have effective offsets of 27mm and 7mm, respectively. ![]() ![]()

Hi Entropy,
I just picked up a set of 295/40R20 snows that I plan to run on the wheels pictured. The wheels are 20x10 +25 offset and I use a 15mm spacer in the rear. What is the offset on your 20x11 style 214s? What spacer configuration do you suspect I would need to be able to run the 295/40R20 on 20x10" wheel with +25 offset? The rear looks like it would be fine, but I'm concerned about rubbing in the front.. Thanks for any advice! Last edited by MaverichX5E70; 10-14-2019 at 06:17 PM. |

Hi, I've run 285s on my stock 19" wheels with no rubbing issues but didn't like it. To heavy a feel up front. I now run 255/50r19 in front and 285/45r19 in the back and love it.

So I finally ate my tires up after 80k miles and after a ton of research and reading these posts, decided to go with the next size up from my stock tire size. I read somewhere that on the factory 18s you can go up to a 265/65 18 tire. However, i think 65 is too tall to clear the upper control arms. So I bought a nice set of studded winter tires and picked 265/60 and they BARELY fit. And it rubs against my secondary radiator wind deflector, basically tore the entire thing off pulling out of the shop haha. But dang, what an improvement! I think I need to get new lower control arms as I live up 3 miles of rocky dirt road on a mountain side in idaho and if i brake my front driver tire moves around quite a bit and rubs. Either way, I love the sport look on OP vehicle, big rims and spacers really make these things look amazing. Here's mine! Its a 2012.5 LCI x5 35d [IMG]https://freeimage.host/i/21MWR2

I run 265/50/20 on Verde Parallax wheels, 20x9, 20mm offset. They BARELY clear, no spacers. Actually had to take a flap disc on a side grinder to eliminate the tire rubbing on the hardware that sits above the front tire, forget what it's actually called. I'll see if I can get a pic uploaded.
