IMO 'big' or 'wide' wheels shouldnt be a issue...assuming you are getting OK tire mileage with no gross alignment/wear problems.


Just from my gut, dead diffs seem pretty rare, but not crazy rare. Bad luck....


$700 seems like a lot for a buddy.


Maybe call around and see if anyone can rebuild yours.... here in the US, diff upgrades and repairs is a popular thing outside of BMWs...but you can usually find someone to work on them.

This apparently happened on my 35d 10k before I bought mine. PO put in a 70k mile diff at 190k miles after the rear blew up. I'm going to change the fluid sometime soon.
