Hi all, I am in the process of retrofitting comfort access into my 2011 E70. I have the door handles, wiring harnesses, passive go module, and antennas. My next step is getting around the key issue since my vehicle did not come with comfort access and I cannot simply order a replacement from the dealer. I have checked the part numbers on the CAS module for an E70 with comfort access and compared with mine on real OEM and they are the same. I am hoping that I can purchase a "virgin" comfort access key and have it programmed to my CAS - will also program comfort access in the VO. Since there seems to be some experts/people with far more experience than me in this thread, I am hoping that you can provide feedback or any potential issues you may see with this strategy. I am contemplating buying a virgin key and HiTag2 from Aliexpress and giving the key a go myself, but I do not want to waste a bunch of time if this will not work. Thanks in advance.

Of note:

There is a notice with my owners manual (2012 X5, Comfort Access,) that the transmitter CAN be accidentally locked in the car. And without a spare key/fob, you are essentially SOL. "Never leave the fob in the car."

Second key and fob are well worth the dealer price. :-)

Most competent locksmiths can pick the door lock in less than 1 minute .. or you can do it yourself with a Lishi HU92 for less than $30.
Sure beats using an air bladder to pry the door away from the frame :-)

ndico21 - Comfort access is a tricky at the best of times. I personally think you're going down a rabbit hole trying to retrofit your car as you'll likely encounter far too many challenges that will make this a very costly venture. If it aint' broke - dont fix it!

Definitely not cost efficient, but I am about 95% of the way there and there is no turning back at this point. I am also installing soft close doors (got a good deal on these on the forums) and just need to put in the interior harness (door harnesses and handles are all installed) and code to wrap things up. The key was finding someone that could have comfort access added as an option to my VIN so that I could order a CA key from BMW.
