Don't feel bad. Same issue here. Bought new assembly months ago and still need to install it. Damn, I work too much.

I just replaced the front cupholder a few days ago. I can't think of a way around removing THE ENTIRE F'ING CENTER CONSOLE. It's unreal how they've buried that thing in there.
Our advice: leave it open and enjoy not wasting an entire day
