E-beer from me! (Reading the tech notes, OP needs to find THAT one precise washer, that is likely sized to the machining error?) |

I mean it had an extra spacer. You didn’t put it back in. To come to the conclusuinb that ‘the date doesn’t matter since I am past May 10’, you need to conclude: - Earlier ones have special washers that are necessary - After May 10, we still used special extra washers, but NOW you can leave them out and it doesn’t matter. |

Shims
Quote:
Yeah, that note saying if you lose the washer you need a new head is scary. Based on that language, and Sunny's comment one of his injectors had two washers, it seems they had a number of depths and had to add an extra assembly step to measure and fit the correct number and thickness of washers- something they don't want to deal with as a maintenance item. It doesn't mean the OP can't measure and have a shim made. It's going to be a pain in the ass without the washer, but it can be done. |

So a little update on my escapade.
Removed the manifold and pulled the injectors out, of course injector N5 was covered in overburn/soot because of the missing washer(thank you BMW for a hack head job). Pulled the valve cover off, and you’ll see from the picture that the amount of vacuum created by leaking center gasket sucked the oil dry from the valve train area(there were literally a drop or two of oil), also as you can see on the boost runners the oil was being seeped in. Besides that the injectors pulled out were covered in oil, explaining the diesel runaway which eventually hydrolocked the engine with oil filling up combustion chambers. I will be getting a new valve cover to play it safe not risking it being warped. So to sum it all up:my car had a partition leaking which shorted two injectors;around the same time the valve cover created the oil seep through the boost runners which in turn clogged the DPF and SCR. To be continued.. https://imgur.com/a/ZPgw2wn |

I will be replacing mine soon. Besides all the issues due to the partition leaking water, how is the vehicle in general? Did the delete help ? How does she drive with the delete?
