I have an e70 that had the small CCC screen (no Nav) and recently installed a Dinavin 8.5" Android screen, the change in the "look and feel" was outstanding, the car just feels modern.
I was looking for an upgrade for two primary reasons, Navigation and Rear Camera; the camera (installed in the trunk handle) works great and the OEM parking distance sensors work fine with the addition of the visuals and turning guides, my wife/sons use this car and just this upgrade was worth the hassle. The navigation is a bit more finicky and works only after you realize the way the android unit works (or don't) but in overall, just the new interface and the camera made the investment (for me). I ended up downloading Google maps files for my area and nav is just fine; for a long trips we use waze on a cellphone anyway (real time traffic information). I still use BMW's bluetooth for calls and only use the Android Bluetooth for music. Sound quality is almost the same ONLY after you set the right volume settings. If you really care about sound quality (or have DSP) Android units may not be the solution.

Also, after sales support can be lacking among the distributors of these units.

New member.
I definitely don’t understand all of the acronyms being used while doing searches for changing out my current factory screen to a newer android screen. I have a 2012 X5D with the pro Soundsystem. I’d like to upgrade to a 10.25 inch android screen. I only say that, because that’s all I really know. I’ve done a little bit of research on this forum and I don’t understand most of what is referred to about changing out the controllers, and CCC versus CIC versus NBT. Any assistance in guiding me towards my ultimate goal which would be a modern, high definition plug and play screen that would still allow all the normal features of my iDrive system would be greatly appreciated. Please forgive my lack of knowledge, I wish I knew more, but I just don’t. If you have any negative comments to say about my lack of knowledge feel free to keep them to yourself. If you have anything beneficial to help me out and guide me towards my ultimate goal, thank you for being helpful and kind. |

What's "pro Soundsystem"? Do you mean HiFi DSP?

I have:
Top-Hifi - Harman Kardon Surround Sound System Audio option: S688A / S677A Vs HiFi BMW Upgrade Audio option: S676A / S674A* This link shows the difference and how to quickly decipher what you have. https://www.bimmer-tech.net/blog/ite...-audio-for-bmw Your YOUTUBE video was great!! Thank you so much. If you don’t mind, could you send me a link to where you purchased your screen from, and any auxiliary parts that you may have purchased as add-ons to give it the quality sound that you were describing you still have? |
