You've owned it since new; always worked fine, but then now 10 years later it just started doing this??And youve never messed with the entry system, no remote starter, no nothing???????

Try the Bimmercode app: https://www.bimmercode.app/cars/e70/
Look under Doors/Mirrors

OR take it to the dealer in Wallinhgford/North Haven. The Hartford crowd are a bunch of idiots!

Yeah, well the sky is the limit.

Some cars had comfort access, some didnt.

Sometimes people modify stuff. Sometimes they lie. Sometimes dealers lie.

Asking us what is wrong is a fine plan, IF THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN HACKED OR MODDED. But until you can determine what has been done, it is really a crap shoot.

And by 'dealer' do you mean a used car lot? Not a BMW dealer?

If you are serious, there is a lot of info on CA, logic, theory of ops, etc...plus you can get ISTA, looks at keys- whats going on with them. It will be the kind of stuff a 'real' BMW dealer would have. But if you arent really looking for tech help, more "hey I had that- you just press the secret buttons and it is fixed" type of help, well, not likely gonna get that

andrewwynn will become famous soon enough
Start with finding the setting that auto locks if you don't open a door and make sure that's off. You can have a faulty lock button on a key that can cause random lock so does this happen with both keys or just one?
