Help! Valvetronic motor inner T25 torx bolts tightening torque
Anybody know what is the tightening torque for this spacer that goes before the valvetronic motor ? I tried to do 10NM with the old fasteners and the bolt broke right at the middle. Luckily, I was able to get it out without removing the valve cover #13 and #15 in the picture is what I am talking about https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=11_3606 I bought all new bolts and doing it all over again, it's really tight when I do it with a ratchet, but when I go for 10NM with a torque wrench, it still keep going. I am afraid if I am going to break the new bolts. Don't think my Craftsman torque wrench is wrong |

10 ok for 6mm bolt those are 5mm.
Bewteen 6 and 8 N·m is spec for 5mm ranging from 8.8 to 10.9 grade. 11 00 Standard screw connection Tightening Torques TypeThreadTightening specificationsTorque 1AZScrews and nuts M5 5 Nm From newtis. Spec for 5mm screws coincidentally 5 N·m.

Those guys are lucky they didn't break the bolt as I did with the new bolts I did up to 7NM last night and it was just fine, then I thought let me try 8NM and it was still spinning as if it didn't bottom out at all. That's the point I stopped my work and decided to seek some help from the online community. Thanks again! |

10.9 spec on 5mm is 8 but that's into steel not aluminum!
I've done destructive testing on 10mm bolts to see what they could take when torqued to vield multiple times. It's a very weird feeling when a bolt stops getting harder to turn it's an even weirder thing to watch the torque value climb up to 90 N·m and them just stay there through the last 45° Do that 4-5x and a 10.9 10mm bolt will snap in half.
